39th SADC CISNA Bi-Annual Meeting, 08 – 10 November 2017

The establishment of the permanent SADC CISNA Secretariat was also elaborated on. It was stipulated that the SADC Council of Ministers in August 2017 has in principle approved the proposal for the CISNA Permanent Secretariat. The bidding document for the CISNA Permanent Secretariat was discussed and it was announced that document will be issued to CISNA Members shortly for consideration.  It has also been mentioned that the commitment of the relevant Ministry of the bidding member authority needs to be provided in relation to the establishing the CISNA Permanent Secretariat.

Updates in relation to Southern African Development Community tasks were also provided to participants.  It has been stipulated that at the 37th SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government meeting in August 2017, the Union of Comoros has been admitted as a new member of SADC, bringing the membership of the regional bloc to 16. The SADC Council of Ministers have called upon member states to cater for financial inclusion on their various agendas and how to develop this in our respective state. 

Elections were held for the various positions in the different sub-committees. Mr Tafadzwa Chinamo from the Securities and Exchange Commission Zimbabwe was appointed as CISNA Chairperson and Mr Kennett Matomola from Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority was appointed as CISNA Vice-Chairperson.
