FSC will host major IOPS international event in October 2017

This regional and global outreach will increase the visibility of Mauritius as being a well-regulated financial centre which adheres to international standards and provide opportunity to the FSC to continue developing its regulatory and supervisory framework. This event will also contribute to increase adherence to compliance with regulation relating to the structure and operation of pension funds to provide enhanced protection to beneficiaries and promote a well-functioning private pensions industry.

The FSC is a member of IOPS since 2005 and has been actively participating to the OECD/ IOPS events since 2004.

The IOPS is the leading standard-setting body on pension supervisory matters and regulatory issues related to pension supervision. The IOPS cooperates closely with other international organisations involved in pension supervision, policy development and dialogue, including, inter alia, the OECD, World Bank, IAIS and IMF. It currently has 87 members and observers representing 76 countries and territories worldwide.

The IOPS’s major goal is to improve the quality and effectiveness of the supervision of private pension systems throughout the world, enhancing their development and operational efficiency, and allowing for the provision of a secure source of retirement income in as many countries as possible. It promotes international co-operation on pension supervision and facilitates contact between pension supervisors and other relevant parties.
